Wednesday, March 18th

Depart school en route to Washington; rest & meal stops will be made every 2-3 hours. Lunch en route is included at Golden Corral (rest stop - Oakmont MM 48 / lunch - Frederick).

2:00 pm - Air & Space Museum
-
Arrive at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum. Next, we visit the WWII, Lincoln, Korean and Vietnam Memorials.

6:00 pm - Dinner

Dinner at Pentagon City Food Court (included) followed by a visit to the Pentagon Memorial.

Depart the hotel for Arlington National Cemetery for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Changing of the Guard Ceremony and Kennedy Gravesites. Next, we have a group photo at the Capitol Building (individual orders) followed by the MLK, FDR and Jefferson Memorials.

This afternoon, we have time on the National Mall to visit the Smithsonian including including the American and Natural National History Museums, Holocaust Museum including the permanent exhibit (pending confirmation). We end our afternoon with a stop at Lafayette Park for a photo opportunity at the White House and time for souvenir shopping. Depart for Medieval Times by 5:15 pm. Lunch today is included, $20.

Travel Insurance
Q: Is insurance available?
A: Yes, through Travel Insured. Information about travel insurance can be found on the last page of the trip packet. The Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) option provides a 75% refund (less $100 deposit) up to 48 hours before departure.
Q: What does it cost?
A: $69 per student.
Q: When must I purchase insurance?
A: Within 14 days of the first payment.
Q: How do I opt in for travel insurance?
A. You can opt in for travel insurance during the registration process by clicking on the Travel Insurance link. If you need assistance, Nowak Tours will be happy to assist you. Their number is 877-293-4900.
Medical Support
Q: Will there be support for students with medical needs?
A: Yes! Lynn Decker, WCS District Nurse, will be on the trip with us.
Q: What if my child has time-sensitive medication?
A: Medication will travel with the group during tours. The district nurse will administer medication as prescribed. Students may self-carry inhalers or EPI-PENS.
Q: What is required if my child takes medicine?
A: Doctor’s prescription, prescription bottle, parent signature, written schedule of administration.

Q: What if my child takes daily vitamins?
A: We suggest avoiding vitamins unless necessary. Students are not permitted to self-carry vitamins. If vitamins are necessary, they would have to be administered by the nurse or health aide on duty.
Student Accomodations
Chaperones & Supervision
Q: Can parents chaperone?
A: No. We are fortunate to have enough WCS staff willing to attend as chaperones.
Q: How are student rooms assigned?
A: Students will be able to choose their roommates. Rooms: groups of 4. It will be highly unlikely to accommodate changes once rooming arrangements have been decided. Boys and girls will be assigned rooms on separate floors, with private overnight security on each level.
More details will be shared once we have a roster of participants.
Food & Snacks
Q: Can students bring food/drinks?
A: Yes, snacks and drinks are allowed with the following exceptions:
1. No dairy (this includes drinks with creamers)
2. No glass containers,
3. Drinks must have screw tops
Q: Will there be allergy accommodations?
A: Absolutely. All meals will have options for anyone with allergies and dietary restrictions. Additionally, one of the buses will be designated as nut-free.
Q: Can students DoorDash food to the hotel?
A: No, this will not be permitted.

Safety & Emergencies
Q: What happens if there are protests in D.C.?
A: Safety is the top priority. If safety is compromised, we will not travel. Protests require permits; we will be notified in advance and adjust the itinerary as needed.
Q: What if my child gets sick during the trip?
A: Staff will monitor, provide allowable care, and contact parents.
Q: What if my child is sick before departure?
A: Please notify the WMS office immediately. Refer to the section on “Travel Insurance” for information about Nowak Tours refund policy.

Q: Is there a discount for twins/triplets?
A: Nowak Tours offers a 5% discount (per student) for biological siblings.
Q: Can parents donate money for another child?
A: Yes, donations are always welcome.
Q: Can students bring cell phones?
A: Yes. Additional guidance about the appropriate use of cell phones will be shared closer to our travel date.
Q: Will there be Wi-Fi?
A: Information will be provided closer to the trip.
Q: Does my student need to bring money with them?
A: No. This is an all-inclusive trip. All meals and activities are included in the $568 trip fee. While sending money is not required, students are welcome to bring money with them to purchase things like souvenirs and/or extra food. Please understand that students are responsible for keeping their money secure and spending it in a manner consistent with their parents’ expectations.
Q: Are there any financial assistance resources available?
A: We want every student to have the opportunity to take part in this experience. If the cost of the trip presents a financial challenge, please reach out to Dr. Roberts at 330-335-1410 or croberts@wadsworthschools.org to discuss possible financial assistance options. All inquiries will be handled confidentially.
Q: How do you make the payments for the Washington D.C. trip?
A: All payments are made directly to the travel company, Nowak Tours – see page four(4) of the registration packet. Please do not send any payments to the school.
Q: Are the sweatshirt sizes based on adult or youth?
A: The sweatshirt sizes are based on ADULT sizes.
